Welcome to another issue of Megadisc! Sorry it was a bit slow
getting out but we had to wait for a couple of last-minute submissions,
not to mention the fact that the scope of the Amiga is growing fast and
each issue there's more ground to cover. See "MegaBites" for news on the
latest developments in the world of Amiga.
This is a bumper issue - we've got an even higher quality of
contributions this time, information and programs which are really useful
and practical. What's more, they're all original and they're all by
Australians, which we believe makes this magazine unique. There's nothing
second-hand or re-hashed from overseas public domain disks - all of that
is always available at low cost from our PD collection. All our very
valued contributors are mentioned in "Thanks" elsewhere on the disk, and
we mean it. Thanks to you too for buying the disk.
Tell us too if you're interested in getting the DOS Manual-on-disk
when it's released about mid-October (Megadisc-type pricing, less for
subscribers). We're always interested in feedback, so please send in
letters, hints, suggestions as well as other contributions - check
"Contributions" in MD_INFO for details of how.
Next issue promises to be better yet. It's getting to the point
where we may have to go to 2 disks per issue, or develop some "compacting"
routines to fit more on the disk (which looks like it may well happen,
allowing us to fit almost 2 disks' worth on one disk, more value for
you! and we've done a bit of compacting on this one, hence the coloured
screens as a couple of the programs load), or perhaps even put some of the
articles on paper. If we get a bit more distribution, we'll be able to do
such things, so why not encourage other Amiga users to buy the disk, and
if your dealer doesn't have it, get him to order it in.
Our network of Amiga people is growing, end-users and programmers
alike, here and overseas, and we can probably put you in touch with people
who are doing similar things to yourself. So if you've got a problem (or a
solution) and you want to link up with like minds, give us a call. And if
you can provide a useful product or service to other Amiga users, we'd
like to hear from you.

Megadisc was produced on an Amiga 1000 (version 1.3), using a
2-Megabyte Ram expansion board from Proton Microelectronics, Expansion
Systems' X-1000 and 20-Meg hard drive, 3.5" and 5.25" disk drives by
Paul Chatfield, and Bit Blitzer from Mike Boorne Electronics. Software
used included "Professional Text Engine" by Zirkonics, TxED by
MicroSmiths, SuperBase Professional by Precision Software, Deluxe Paint
of course, and a great many excellent public domain utilities by
numerous talented authors.
DISCLAIMER: All Megadiscs are produced with as much care as
possible and with the aim of spreading useful information through the
Amiga community. All contents of Megadisc are checked thoroughly, but
we hold no responsibility for use of programs or implementation of
advice or modifications contained in Megadisc, which are the
responsibility of the user. (This legalese can be countered by the fact
that to date there has been no report of any mishap from use of
Megadisc - on the contrary, all the feedback has been very supportive
and positive, and thanks to all you users for that.)
Should anyone receive a disk which does not perform as it should,
please send it straight back and it will be immediately replaced -
there are always a few dud disks in every bunch, which you'll recognise
by "Read/Write Errors" or the disk icon showing as "DFx:BAD".
Space is tight, so I'll leave it at that - I hope you enjoy MEGADISC.
